Over the next 10 years, our life will get more secure and more comfortable. Humanity learns important lessons from each crisis. We adjust ourselves. We adapt, we survive and we grow.

The story of humanity is the story of survival against all odds. Humanity has successfully faced all challenges — Pandemic, world wars, terrorism, nuclear bomb, dreaded diseases, hunger, famine, injustice, inequality, religious persecution, fears of technology, mass unemployment, etc. etc. We have faced every challenge and made our lives comfortable, safe, and predictable.

Very shortly, we will develop vaccine and treatment protocol for Covid-19. We will also create an effective global strategy to deal with future pandemics. Over the next 6–18 months, human civilization and the global community will get adjusted to the new normal. We will create effective methods and tools to work remotely. 

Even though we have suffered the worst global crisis, business confidence has quickly improved. The stock market is just 15 % below its all-time peak. Everyday stock prices are recovering. Business leaders have started making effective business plans for the post-corona world.

We will clearly see 3 major trends in post-Corona world :

Technology will take center-stage in our life:

Governments all over the world allowed essential services even in the most restrictive lockdown. What were the essential services? — Food, Water, Electricity and…. Internet!

Even in lock-down Google, Amazon, Apple, Verizon, and all other technology/ telecommunication companies were working! In the coming days, the importance & need for work-related travel and work-related personal meetings will reduce. Zoom, Skype, Whatsapp, Google Meet, and other such tools will become standard for the meeting. Even today during the lockdown period, when we say — I will have a meeting on Friday, 12:30 PM — everyone understands it will be a zoom or skype meeting. Every business and every industry will create work models involving technology and remote working. Travel, face to face meetings will be mostly for leisure, joy, and exploration.

Specifically, by 2030 we will see that :

Speed : Internet speed, mobile & computing speed will continue to dramatically increase. With 5G mobile, we will be able to surf the internet at 10x or 100x speed. Companies engaged in 5G and later 6G deployment will experience unprecedented growth in 10 years.

VR/AR : Virtual reality, Augmented Reality will become commonplace. 20 Years ago, none of us imagined that we would spend the majority of our waking time looking at mobile or laptop screens. In the next 10 years, VR-AR technology will be as common as mobile.

Logistics : Technology-driven Logistics, delivery models will improve. New models will come into existence on delivering products and services at our door-step.

Cloud : Cloud technology will flourish. Data and software will be on the cloud. We will continue to refine and improve work-models such that we can access our data and information from anywhere. If anything is not on the cloud, it will be less useful.

Social Media : Social Media, instant messaging, online social groups will continue to grow. We will spend more time on social media than we spend in social group in the physical world.

AI : Artificial Intelligence tools will make all the smart decisions for us — AI Tools will recommend us books, movies, TV serials, friends, life-partner, relevant jobs, travel destinations, investment products, etc. etc. We will make choices from the menu presented by AI-algorithms. If you are a business owner, and you want to be on the menu of choices offered by AI to your customer, better start learning how AI compiles its menu.

Because of Covid-19 our embrace of technology will accelerate.

2. Entertainment & fun will be the top-most priority:

Imagine the world of 1920. People worked in fields, factories, offices, and homes. Religion, work, and social life were the top-priorities. In the next 10 years, human life’s central focus will be entertainment and fun. We will continue to explore new ways to entertain and enjoy. Everything will be evaluated based on its Fun-Value!

Traditionally hospital-stay, medical treatment, doctor’s visit, grocery shopping, regular educational sessions, etc. are not considered as “fun” things. In the coming days a large percentage of our communication, products, services, and relationship is determined based on fun-value.

Fun will become a serious business.

Getting-up & getting ready : Moment we open our eyes and we wake-up, we are surrounded by technology. Most people wake-up with an alarm on their mobile phone. Many people check their whatsapp messages and wear earphones as soon as they get-up. Technology starts surrounding our senses as we start our day. People expect these technologies to give them experience of fun. Alarm music, alarm app, calendar notification or personal digital assistant will wake-up and control our morning daily routine.

Exercise : Earlier exercise was dry, boring activity reserved for health freaks and athletes. Today for some people and in the future for most people, exercise would give an experience of fun. .Today fitness teachers who can make exercise routine enjoyable are in great demand.

Work : Every work will slowly become a game. We will be ranked, rated, liked, commented on, shared and receive points for everything we do. There will be instant feedback. Technology and apps will make work-fun.

Food : All animals eat when they are hungry. Animals eat to satisfy their hunger. Today more and more people eat because they enjoy eating. 

Education : More and more education is becoming edu-tainment. Kids don’t have the discipline and strength to remain focused on any subject for a long period of time. Kids crave for fun in education. 

Wedding, Social Events, Business Events: All events have some component of fun. Even in business or medical conferences, some time is reserved in the evening for entertainment! In fact, many people come to business or medical conferences, only to attend evening entertainment programs.

If you are a business owner, you will need to start thinking about how to make it enjoyable for your team members to work and make it enjoyable for your customers to do business with you.

3. Traditional status & success symbols will become obsolete :

Bigger houses, bigger cars, branded products, luxuries, unlimited wealth are considered as today’s status symbol. What is the point of wealth if you cannot step out?

Today, the richest man and poorest man are at the same place — Inside! New status symbols will emerge. People will care less about money and materialistic wealth but will care more about stuff that can give joy & fun. Ownership will become irrelevant. More and more people will move towards a sharing economy.

Whatever you are selling, create a sharing economy model. Allow people to share resources. No one wants to spend money on owning or maintaining anything. Sharing will be the norm.

Health and well-being will be an important status symbol. Every crisis has created new opportunities and new models. Covid-19 is no different from the previous crisis. Humanity will become stronger and more powerful.

Real estate, cars, expensive jewelry, club membership etc. will continue to decline in value as status symbols. Social media network, online influence, creating talents, health, cognitive abilities, innovation, etc. will continue to rise as status symbols.

Use your time to master technology, select effective entertainment, and explore new status symbols.

The world is not coming to an end. Most mathematical models predict that Corona infections will start reducing from the 1st week of June-2020. By mid-2021, the vaccine will be ready and humanity will quickly get back to the path of growth and prosperity.
